NEET, JEE Main, OJEE: here students of government school will get reservation in engineering and medical colleges

The Odisha government has decided to provide reservation in the engineering and medical colleges of the state to the students of its government schools. To encourage the children of the state government-run schools to pass the engineering and medical entrance exam, some seats in engineering and medical colleges will be reserved for them. The proposal was approved in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

School Education Minister SR Dash said that students of schools run by the state government will get quota in medical and engineering colleges from next academic session. The minister said that the purpose of this reservation is to encourage those students from rural areas who are deprived of the benefits of coaching and digital courses available in cities. In the absence of study facilities, students from rural areas are not able to compete with urban students in competitive examinations.
Students who pass matriculation from a state-run school will be eligible for this quota. The economic background will not be seen in it.

The cabinet has also constituted a committee to implement the reservation, which will consider every aspect and submit its report in three months.

In Tamil Nadu also, reservation for government school students in medical colleges
Recently, Tamil Nadu had approved a bill providing 7.5 percent reservation for admission in medical courses to students of government schools who have been successful in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). It has been implemented in the state after getting approval from the Governor. From the current 2020-21 academic session, 7.5% reservation in medical courses (UG) has been given to the NEAT students of Tamil Nadu government schools.
