TikTok CEO on India's ban on app: 'Lot of risks are hypothetical and theoretical'

TikTok CEO, Shou Zi Chew, testified before US Congress members for nearly 6 hours, refuting concerns that the Chinese government has influence over the social media giant and denying that it poses a national security threat. Chew faced questions from Republican and Democratic lawmakers about TikTok's content moderation, data protection and links to the Chinese government. While India imposed a nationwide ban on TikTok in 2020, Chew denied allegations that Indian user data was accessible to employees in China. Despite Chew's reassurances, TikTok is already banned on federal government and military devices in the US.
