Some leading brands have reported that BIS is not keen on certifying factories in China and Vietnam, and may be selective with manufacturing units in Southeast Asia. Nike has requested certification for supplier factories in Indonesia and Vietnam. The industry relies heavily on imports from China, Vietnam, and Southeast Asian nations. The government aims to promote domestic manufacturing to reduce low-quality footwear imports from China.
